We don’t provide details of our location on our website as we would prefer for it to be our little secret with you. Instead when you book we will provide you with full details including map and directions, so there is no doubt you will find the hidden treasure.

Renewable & Sustainable

A Little bit of Rough are committed to minimising its impact and the impact of our guests on the natural environment. We use sustainable and green energy sources to light and heat our lodges, including wind up and solar lanterns and wood burning stoves that use locally sourced and sustainable sources of fuel.

All sewage is treated on site through the use of innovative technology and the natural environment. Waste water is processed without the need for chemicals and is captured in one of our newly constructed wildlife ponds which both serves the needs of our guests and provide important additional habitat.

A Little bit of Rough are committed to recycling as much of its waste as possible and provide extensive recycling facilities for our guests. We are also committed to the maintenance of the woodland as a haven for wildlife as well as our guests. We continue to manage the woodland, plant trees, create new habitat such as our mini beast hotel and newly planted wildflowers and have installed nesting boxes across the wood.

Our luxurious canvas lodges each sleep up to 6 guests, maximum 4 x adults and 2 x children. The lodges comprise of a King Bedroom a Twin Bedroom and our unique cabin bed (the children’s favourite!)

Each lodge has its own en-suite bathroom with roll top bath and wash basin, and a separate toilet room located to the side of the lodge next to the bathroom.

At the heart of the lodge is our wood burning stove: it will keep the lodge warm in all weathers, and provides a means of cooking.

We do also provide a small gas ring so that you can enjoy that all important cup of coffee, or tea without having to light the stove. Each lodge has its own BBQ area.

The kitchen is fully equipped with cooking utensils, pots, pans, crockery, cutlery and glassware. There is also a solar powered fridge/freezer. The dining area has a 6 seater dining table and chairs

The lounge area has a large 3 seater leather sofa and chest, which is filled with a selection of games, books and bug hunting kits, and also acts as a coffee table.

The Large deck area at the front of the lodge has dining table with six reclining wooden chairs so you can dine al fresco or sit back and enjoy the beautiful views over the rolling Rutland countryside.

We are very lucky not to have any major towns or cities creating light pollution in the county of Rutland, so star gazing at Spindleberry Woods is absolutely amazing.

What an experience! Everyone should get the chance to stay here. The location is incredibly beautiful. The owners ‘green’ ethos and attention to detail is the icing on the cake for this hidden gem in the heart of Rutland – will definitely come again.
From the moment we arrived we felt we had escaped the stresses of everyday life. The peace, the sky at night – wow and the lodges are stunning with everything you could wish for. This is camping at its best!
