Uppingham - With a wealth of history and a host of excellent shops, Uppingham has a character all of its own. Renowned for its excellent range of antique shops, fine art galleries and book shops, visitors come far and wide. Most of the shops can be found on the High Street and Market Place, but there are many others hidden away along ancient alleyways. A traditional weekly market takes place in the town on Fridays.

Oakham – Is the largest town in Rutland and is packed with heritage. Just minutes away from Rutland Water, it is a pretty traditional English market town with a hive of activity. If you like to shop you can do it until you drop with the boutiques, antiques and art galleries, finishing with a relaxing beverage at one of the many cafes or if you are in need of something stronger, Oakham has its very own brewery.

Stamford – Just over the border in Lincolnshire (16 miles from our woodland), is Stamford, widely regarded as one of the finest stone towns in England. With narrow alleyways and hidden courtyards, shopping is a real pleasure. As the town has a reputation for good food, you will be spoilt with a choice of places to eat and drink.

Melton Mowbray –.Promoted as the "Rural Capital of Food", Melton Mowbray is perhaps best known for its culinary specialties, being the home of the eponymous pork pie and one of the five homes of Stilton cheese. Its holds a farmers market every Tuesday and Friday, which always offers an extensive range of produce. On every Tuesday throughout the year there is also a livestock market. Melton Mowbray is 20 miles from our woodland in the county of Leicestershire

Despite being the smallest county in England, Rutland has a lot to offer, hence the county motto ‘Multum In Parvo’ which means ‘Much In Little’.If you enjoy the great outdoors, then you will find lots of things to enjoy in this rural retreat.
